According to an article in Saturday’s Guardian by Swiss entrepreneur and writer, Rolf Dobelli, consuming news in any form is a waste of time.

Dobelli wonders whether any of the ten thousand or so individual news items that on average we read in a year has in fact contributed to a single decision we have taken that has positively affected our lives. He contends that clear and deep thinking are impossible under the constant bombardment of news items and updates to news items that fill all sorts of odd corners of our days. News is low-level stimulation, and when we are merely stimulated we think, if we think at all, passively.
