Kernersville expects to name police chief by July

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — The town of Kernersville should have a new police chief by July, town manager Curtis Swisher said Friday, according to The Winston-Salem Journal.

Town officials said Kernersville Police Chief Ken Gamble resigned March 18 after 3½ years as chief.

Officials said in a statement that Gamble resigned “citing a leadership and management style that is incompatible with the town manager and the Board’s vision for the Department moving forward.”

Swisher said Friday the town would stop receiving applications for the position at the end of April. The town has hired Cannady Associates of Greensboro to assist in the search.

Gamble was placed on two weeks of paid administrative leave on March 4. Town officials have been tight-lipped about why he was placed on administrative leave, saying it was a personnel issue.
