SW Radio Africa – Legal expert says not necessary to extend life of parliament
A legal expert has said there are three main pieces of legislation that require amendments before the forthcoming election, but that it’s not necessary to amend the constitution to extend the life of parliament, as suggested in the media.
Derek Matyszak was reacting to reports claiming the two MDC formations were proposing a constitutional amendment that would see the life of the House of Assembly being extended beyond June 29 when the tenure of parliament expires. This would allow more time for the implementation of fundamental reforms.
