Fifa 14 will not need an online pass – EA to abolish the controversial feature

An E-mail from John Reseburg to Gamesbeat has stated that future EA titles will no longer require online passes going forward “Yes, we’re discontinuing the Online Pass…..None of our new EA titles will include that feature.”

EA have claimed the change is partially due to player response. Reseburg went on to say  “Initially launched as an effort to package a full menu of online content and services, many players didn’t respond to the format,” Reseburg said. “We’ve listened to the feedback and decided to do away with it moving forward.” This means games like Battlefield, Fifa and Madden will no longer require an online pass or any additional fees to play online.
