PICA VOLUNTEERS: Keeping Ft. Dodge Beautiful

If you happen to be around Fort Dodge Thursday you might just see a group of people in blue shirts.

“The PICA pride in the community is just awesome. They’ve been coming here for years now beautifying not only the Blanden (Memorial Art Museum) but other landscapes throughout the city of Fort Dodge,” says the museum’s Pamela Kay.

PICA stands for Pride in Community Appearance.

The volunteer group meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings for two hours at various spots in Ft. Dodge including a recent work day at the Blanden Art Museum.

PICA works on improvement projects.

It’s is all volunteer work but there is also camaraderie and some treats at break time.

Earlier this year the group was recognized in Washington, D.C. with a first place Keep America Beautiful Award.
