Drift: The Unmooring of American Military Power by Rachel Maddow

First off, I love Rachel Maddow and her style of journalism. She is, in my opinion, one of the best journalists of today because of her wit and how she presents her stories on her MSNBC show, The Rachel Maddow Show. She’s also extremely intelligent and I think her recent book Drift: The Unmooring of American Military Power shows this splendidly. I also knew it was going to be a great read right from the dedication of the book to Former Vice President Dick Cheney, asking him to let her interview him.

It’s not dry and it is succinct where it counts, and does a great job examining the evolution of the American Military since Vietnam and onwards (with great emphasis on President Ronald Reagan’s administration), including into the Obama administration.
